Metal Boats
1999, welded and brazed steel with gathered objects
Originally entitled Midnight Freight. This installation, which debuted at Berkshire Artisans Gallery in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, featured thirty-three boats, each filled with a symbolic cargo, converging upon a single opening in a steel arch bridge. An adaptation of this installation appeared in Living with the River, a juried group show held at the Canal Gallery in Holyoke, MA from May through the end of Summer 2001.
The foreground boat transports fallen Cottonwood branches.
